Friyay approached quickly and with big plans. We were able to make a large compost pile. First, we weeded the area, leveled out the mulch, put a layer of straw down, then a layer of manure, then some apple mush (yum), then wood/leafy stuff. Seth called this layering like a lasagna. He also stressed the importance of watering the dry layers before adding the next one, as his last compost pile decomposed unusually slow likely due to lack of moisture. So we made sure to water the dry layers in between. After this, we finished weeding the patch near the botanical herb patch. Without all the dense grass in the way, you could actually see a nice patch of botanical herbs. Seth and Laura were extremely happy to be able to see them all again. Sadly, we missed out on the soap pouring, but Seth still told us how it was done. The amazing Laura took us to the bakery where I bought a delicious cinnamon roll (I still think about it days later).
