Today I arose from the dead! (albeit, at approximately 12pm) My ridiculous quantities of sleep from yesterday and last night seemed to do the trick for my stomach because I feel as healthy as a horse. Elise and I had the day off from work again today. Turns out Friday was our last day of farm work without us even knowing it! 😥 Anyway, Elise has been stirring to go for a hike since the beginning of our trip and so now that I'm human again that is what we decided to do. We went on a 3 miler a few hours ago that should've been peaceful but the combination of the elevation gain and my recovering body did have me work up quite a sweat by the end (the shower afterward was very refreshing).
When we got back to our camper we did some computer work for our project and then at 7 o'clock we joined Seth and his family for family dinner. A family dinner was something Seth first brought up on Thursday I believe and I have been looking forward to it the whole time. They invited us into their home and we feasted on the most delicious homemade tacos I've ever had (Katie used to live in Mexico and knows how to make absolutely killer tortillas). And although I was skeptical at first, the butternut squash taco topping tasted utterly sublime. I thoroughly enjoyed the company of Seth's whole family---I can't even refer to his kids as 'gremlins' (my usual title for children) because they were truly delightful--- and I enjoyed listening to Seth and Katie's stories about what drove them to create a life in Manson. This dinner was the highlight of my trip for sure and a wonderful send off for Elise and me.
